I was driving into work on Wednesday morning listening to the Morning Edition radio show on KUHF. I like this station. In my opinion they are doing a good job of delivering precise to the point news.
They began to talk about technology but specifically the world of “Apps”. Apps is an abbreviation for application. An app is a piece of software. It can run on the Internet, on your computer, or on your phone or other electronic device. Definition quoted from About.com. Google it.
They go on to explain how apps have changed the use of the cell phone and other media then mention a few useful popular apps such as the First Aid App. After that they discuss the subject of childhood education and how some companies have been able to translate popular children’s books into Apps.
Some apps read the story out aloud while others are very interactive. They allow children to identify characters by touch and mimic sound. They highlighted a few companies but the one that stood out to me was Oceanhouse Media.
When I got home I did do some research. It turns out Oceanhouse Media has a great App lineup. They have a stock pile of Dr. Seuss works such as the Cat In the Hat (My Favorite), Green Eggs and Ham and Horton Hears a Who. The also have a list of great children authors along with a few personal development apps as well.
Don’t be fooled they are the lead Read Along upload for children apps. I just might go get an I Pad dedicated for my kids use only. It’s the 21 first century the era of the App Baby.
Maybe I can create a Gojoewesley.com app. It could happen.
